Pakistani Young Leaders Program

Program website:

The Pakistani Young Leaders Program is a joint Pakistan Embassy and ECA funded program entitled, "Getting Things Done: The Context of Public Policy" (GTD). Our program takes as its starting point the relationship between the popular ideal of Democracy and the often maligned, yet frequently ignored, topic of Administration. The program is based on a simple political observation; human beings, no matter what governmental system they live in, care about basic services and sound administration. This program will work with 25 young Pakistani leaders to address issues of public policy and democracy within Pakistan and the United States. Our program will also bring University of Massachusetts undergraduate students together with their Pakistani counterparts for a class that will explore the political, economic, historical, institutional, and cultural issues involved in what is a common and critical goal for all government — providing security and services to their citizens.
